I think this pocket-sized, 160 page booklet was published in 1937 or
1938. |
The Strand News Cinema (on map) opened in 1935 . The Bloomsbury Super (on map) closed in 1940. Post Office Station became St. Paul's (on map) in 1937, the same year the Morden-Edgware Line (on map) became the Northern Line. Highgate Station (on map) became Archway (Highgate) in 1939. Geographia was founded in 1911 and the guide had been published "for over 26 years". It is arranged into three columns; Street and Postal District, Nearest Main Thoroughfare and Nearest Station. There are about 7,500 entries, at least 1,500 of which are name changes. The rest constitute well under half of the Streets and Roads in the L.C.C. area and are mostly, but not exclusively, in the centre. Input from those with specialist or personal knowledge regarding its age or purpose is welcome. |
